What is BIMI?
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is an email specification that enables:
- Brand visibility: Display your verified logo in recipient email clients
- Increased trust: Show recipients that emails are genuinely from your organization
- Better engagement: Branded emails have higher open and engagement rates
BIMI Record Format
- DNS Location: TXT record at
default._bimi.{domain} - Required Fields:
v=BIMI1- Version identifierl=- URL to SVG logo (must be HTTPS)
- Optional Fields:
a=- URL to VMC certificate (required for Gmail)
- Example:
v=BIMI1; l=https://example.com/logo.svg; a=https://example.com/vmc.pem
BIMI Requirements
- DMARC: Policy must be
quarantineorreject - SVG Logo: Square aspect ratio, no scripts, under 32KB
- VMC (Optional): Verified Mark Certificate from DigiCert or Entrust (required for Gmail)
